INBODY

Inbody

Inbody is a body composition analysis technology that uses bioelectrical impedance to provide a detailed assessment of a person’s body. Unlike a standard scale, which only measures weight, InBody devices break down weight into several components, including muscle mass, body fat percentage, and water levels, giving a comprehensive view of a person’s physical makeup.

InBody works using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), which sends a low-level electrical current through the body to measure resistance and reactance in different tissues. Here’s how it works:

  1. Bioelectrical Impedance: When the current flows through the body, it moves quickly through water and slowly through fat. The device measures this resistance to determine body composition.

  2. Segmental Analysis: InBody separates the body into different sections (arms, legs, trunk) to give detailed information on fat and muscle distribution.

  3. Multifrequency Current: InBody uses multiple frequencies of electrical currents to analyze both intracellular and extracellular water, providing more accurate hydration levels.

  4. No Estimations or Empirical Data: Unlike some BIA devices, InBody doesn’t rely on age, gender, or other external factors for measurements, ensuring data is specific to the individual.

  5. Direct Measurement Output: Results are provided on the screen or as a printed report, including metrics like body fat percentage, muscle mass, BMR, and segmental lean analysis.
